FAQs

What should you look for when selecting a disinfectant?

The first and foremost thing which one should look for while selecting a disinfectant is whether it is manufactured under a drug license number. Manufacturer of disinfectants in India requires a Drug License. Another feature which one should consider is the components of the disinfectant. If one plans to use the disinfectant for spraying or fogging purpose then the disinfectant needs to be a non alcohol based disinfectant.

Is HM 15 flammable?

No. HM 15 is not flammable since it does not contain any alcohol based ingredient.

How should I dilute HM 15?

HM 15 needs to be diluted with RO/demineralized water for effective results.

Is HM 15 approved by Govt of India?

The composition of HM 15 has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration of India. It is manufactured under a license number – 664-OSP(H) & 374-B(H).

Which chemical compound is used in HM 15 for disinfection?

HM 15 contains Benzalkonium Chloride. Benzalkonium Chloride is a part of the QAC (quaternary ammonium compound) family and is a proven disinfectant against corona virus.

What is the major advantage of HM 15 over (ethanol/IPA) based disinfectants?

HM 15 (Bezalkonium chloride based) is a water based disinfectant which is non flammable. It can be safely sprayed within interior and exterior of any house or premise. Ethanol and IPA based surface disinfectants are flammable in nature and are very dangerous when used for spraying or fogging applications.

Can I use HM 15 as a hand sanitizer?

No. HM 15 cannot be used as a hand sanitizer. This product is a surface disinfectant and can be used by spraying or by using a cloth dipped in HM 15 to disinfect any surface.

Can I use HM 15 in spray tunnels and fogging machines?

Yes. HM15 at the recommended dilution is safe to use for disinfection in spray tunnels and fogging machines.

What is the quantity HM 15 required for disinfection?

1 litre of HM 15 needs to be diluted with 19 liter of RO water. The 20 litres solutions is enough to disinfect an area of 5,000 sq feet. The disinfection should be carried out 2-3 times in a day, to ensure virus free surfaces.

Is HM 15 more effective than sodium hypo chlorite/hypo/chlorine-based disinfectants?

HM 15 (Bezalkonium chloride based) and sodium hypo chlorite are both excellent disinfectants but HM 15 has the following advantages over chlorine-based disinfectants:
  • HM 15 is odorless and does not have pungent smell
  • HM 15 is non-corrosive to metal surfaces
  • HM 15 does not cause discoloration of clothes and surfaces
  • HM 15 does not cause any skin irritation or breathing problems
  • HM 15 has a shelf life of 12 months as compared to hypo which deteriorates rapidly when not stored properly. A 10% active hypo solution will remain only 5% active if exposed to sunlight directly for 12 hours.
  • No PPEs are required to make HM 15 solution
  • HM 15 is also more cost effective to use than sodium hypochlorite
